Tech Veteran Janice Chaffin Honored with John. E. Anderson Distinguished Alumni Award |
Excited by her work helping UCSD automate its admission process, Janice Chaffin ('81) came to UCLA to explore options in management information systems. Post-MBA, she rose up through the ranks at Hewlett Packard and Symantec where she eventually became group president of its consumer business. In 2013, she transitioned to serving as a board member for a variety of corporations and nonprofits, including Anderson's Board of Advisors and Easton Center board. "On the boards I'm on, I'm not interested in a company that's just turning a crank. There's always some major transformation that it needs to go through. That's where I like to jump in," she says.
