Where will UCLA Anderson’s 2024 commencement ceremony take place?

UCLA Anderson’s 2024 full-time MBA, FEMBA, EMBA and Ph.D. commencement ceremony will take place on Friday, June 14, at 4:00 p.m. at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the UCLA campus. MAP

Do I need a ticket?

Yes. Graduating students must register for tickets for themselves and their guests. Tickets will be sent digitally, but can also be printed. Students and guests will be issued different color tickets with unique QR codes. Ticket registration instructions will be emailed directly to graduating students.

How many guests may I invite?

Graduating students may invite up to 8 guests to the commencement ceremony. Ticket registration instructions will be emailed directly to graduating students.

Is special seating available for my guests who use a wheelchair?

Yes. On-site staff will assist with seating for people who use a wheelchair. Please have them enter through Gate B, which is located on the northeast corner of the Los Angeles Tennis Center. MAP

Will a reception follow the commencement ceremony?

No. Due to anticipated crowds near the Los Angeles Tennis Center and Pauley Pavilion, graduates are encouraged to reconnect with their guests on Wilson Plaza.

Will there be a lot of traffic?

Yes. Traffic in Los Angeles can be heavy on freeways and surface streets, so please give yourself extra time to travel to campus.

Where should I park?

Graduating students should park in UCLA campus parking structure P4. This structure with underground parking is close to the Anderson complex, where you will assemble for class photos. Enter on Westwood Plaza just south of Sunset Blvd. All parking lots and structures on the UCLA campus will be open throughout commencement weekend. You may purchase a parking permit in advance via the Bruin ePermit system. MAP

What time do I need to be at the Anderson complex for class photos?

Ph.D. students should arrive on site no later than 1:30 p.m. Full-time MBA, FEMBA and EMBA students should arrive by 2:00 p.m. Please plan to be dressed in cap, gown and hood upon arrival.

Where should I line up for the ceremony?

After each class photo, staff members will escort students from UCLA Anderson to the Los Angeles Tennis Center. You will line up in the lower courts and then you’ll be led to the upper courts for the ceremony. MAP

Will the ceremony be livestreamed?

Yes, the ceremony will be livestreamed and viewable on the main Anderson Commencement web page.

I won’t be finished with my studies until fall. May I still participate?

Yes. Please make sure to alert the commencement director of your status so your name will appear in the program.

I’m an honors student. Will I receive any special recognition?

Your name will be given special notice in the program.

My name is difficult to pronounce. What should I do?

If your name is not easy to pronounce, please print it phonetically and legibly in the appropriate section of the reader card that will be located on your seat.

What should I wear to the commencement ceremony?

It is mandatory for you to wear official UCLA regalia in order to participate in the commencement ceremony. Graduation Etc. is located on the A level of UCLA Ackerman Union.

What should I wear underneath my gown?

There is no dress code for the graduation celebration other than your cap, gown and hood. However, make sure you’re wearing appropriate clothing underneath your gown because you will return your gown and hood to Graduation Etc. right after the ceremony concludes.

It is mandatory for you to wear official UCLA regalia in order to participate in the ceremony.

What side does my tassel go on?

As a graduate student, you always wear your degree tassel on the left side. (When in doubt, remember that you wear your degree over your heart.)

What should I do during the national anthem?

Please stand during the singing of our national anthem. Men traditionally remove their mortarboards and put them on again immediately after the anthem has concluded. You may but are not required to sing the national anthem.

How long is the ceremony?

The ceremony should last approximately two hours, ending around 6:00 p.m.

Where should I return my gown and hood?

The staff from Graduation Etc. will have a tent set up in Wilson Plaza after the ceremony concludes. If you don’t turn in your gown and hood on June 14, you’ll need to come back to campus the following week and drop them off at the Graduation Etc. office on the A level of Ackerman Union.

Has UCLA put new security measures in place?

Yes. UCLA has observed a period of heightened security on campus. Please read the university’s May 5 update.

May I bring my pet with me?

No, pets are not allowed at the ceremony.

May I bring alcohol?

No, alcohol isn’t allowed at the ceremonny.

How can I view my graduation photos from GradImages?

GradImages will email you at the address you provide on your reader card. Please make sure you print it legibly. You’ll log in to the GradImages website and enter your last name, followed by “UCLA” and “2024” in the lower sections, and you should see your photos.

When will I receive my diploma?

The UCLA registrar’s office will mail you diploma information approximately six weeks after the end of your degree term (winter graduates will receive their information in June; spring graduates will receive their information in August). Diplomas can be picked up in person at the UCLA registrar’s office at 1113 Murphy Hall approximately three months after you graduate (winter graduates can pick up their diploma in June; spring graduates can pick up their diploma in September/October). If you would like your diploma to be mailed to you, visit UCLA’s Graduation and Diploma website and download and print the form to be returned.
