Admissions Requirements
The Accounting minor provides students with a comprehensive accounting background; admission is competitive and based on overall UCLA grade-point average, grade-point average in pre-admission courses, and grades in Management 1A and 1B. Decisions on admission to the minor are made by the Anderson School Accounting Area.
Applications are accepted in fall, winter, and spring quarters. Non-transfer students can apply subsequent to completing 90 units. Transfer students can apply after completing 90 units and two academic quarters (excluding summer sessions) at UCLA.
To enter the minor, students must
- (1) have a minimum cumulative UCLA grade-point average of 3.0,
- (2) complete all required pre-admission courses with a minimum course grade-point average of 3.0, and
- (3) UCLA students who took Management 1A and 1B at UCLA must receive grades of B or better in Management 1A and 1B. Students who do not earn a B in 1A and 1B must take MGMT 120A and earn at least a B prior to admission to the program. MGMT 120A will not be included in the preparation GPA calculation.
Students who took Management 1A and 1B at a different school must complete courses 120A and 122 and earn a B or better in both courses prior to admission to the program. Students must earn a grade of C or better in all other preparation courses.
Repetition of more than one pre-admission course results in automatic denial of admission to the minor.
Satisfying these requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.

Students are allowed to complete the preparation courses at another institution. All upper division coursework MUST be taken at UCLA.
If you have not yet enrolled in a course at another institution, please contact accounting.minor@anderson.ucla.edu BEFORE enrolling. This is to verify that the course you are planning on taking does in fact satisfy one of the minor preparation courses.
If you have already completed courses at another institution, please send all transcripts to the UCLA Admission Office. If the UCLA Admissions Office has not recognized the courses you took as equivalent to anything offered here at UCLA, please email a detailed syllabus of the course to accounting.minor@anderson.ucla.edu for approval.
