Academic Offerings
In the spirit of One Anderson, UCLA Anderson has integrated values-based decision making across the core MBA curriculum. Regardless of their sector, industry or function, students use their business acumen to address society’s most pressing challenges and graduate with a clear understanding of how impact pervades all aspects of the working world.
UCLA Anderson’s Applied Management Program (AMP) partners a team of MBA candidates with an organization to deliver strategic solutions to critical challenges through top notch analysis. The students produce a rigorously tested, professional-grade consulting report based on extensive primary and secondary research. The Center for Impact recognizes AMP teams that focus on impact areas, such as environmental sustainability, education and financial inclusion.
This interdisciplinary certificate program through the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IoES) enables students to pursue coursework across campus and complete a capstone leadership project designed to solve a sustainability problem.
Anderson’s field study requirement is a real-world 6-month consulting project that places MBA teams to work around the globe. The Center for Impact provides tailored curriculum, workshops and resources to support students who choose to work for real clients on sponsored prosocial AMP projects. Students can build a fundamental base of knowledge of social impact concepts, theories and principles that help them navigate their clients’ greatest strategic challenges.
What you will gain
It can be gained through a variety of foundational courses as well as courses listed as part of Category II.
It can be advanced through the required course, several other courses listed under Category I, as well as a social impact AMR project.
Consider the area of impact in which you would like to work or learn about. You may find courses in both Category I and Category II.
Real-world Impact
UCLA Anderson MBA students apply theoretical concepts of business to real-world societal challenges. From providing pro bono consulting to address strategic challenges of local nonprofits and social enterprises to making tangible impact investments in early-stage social ventures, UCLA Anderson offers students hands-on opportunities to make a real-world impact.
Impact investments are made with the intention of generating measurable, beneficial social or environmental outcomes in addition to a financial return. UCLA Anderson offers students hands-on opportunities to identify social ventures and manage capital for profit and purpose.
UCLA Anderson’s social consulting programs give MBA students the experience of applying theoretical concepts of business to real-world societal challenges. Student teams provide pro bono consulting in marketing, operations, nance and expansion strategy to address strategic challenges of mission-driven nonpro ts and social enterprises.
Anderson Venture Impact Partners (AVIP), UCLA Anderson's student-led impact investing fund, makes minority investments of at least $50,000 in early-stage ventures that have the intention of generating measuring social and/or environmental returns alongside financial returns.
